Our new best friends

With a combination of home made vegetarian currys, eastern european lagers and jamaican reggae, Planet India couldn't really go far wrong. In fact, it would be fine if that's all there was to it, I'd be quite happy, but add in super friendly owners and cheap low down prices and the star rating climbs quickly.

We got off to an excellent start with some breads and pickles, the latter being home-chunky style and really properly hot. The short choice of mains is made more interesting by the mix and match approach. Have a curry and rice if you like but if you want to double the variation, you can have two different choices on the same plate with a gret ridge of rice down the middle. Such a simple idea but it works really well, especially as the menu ranges from chunky vegetable type dishes to smoother dahls in need of bread for dipping and soaking.

This appears to be a two handed operation, just a husband and wife team running both front and back of house. Considering the amount of work this takes, they could not have been nicer. Accomodating smiles all round and a relaxed attitude to whatever the customers' requirements make Planet India a rare treat. A meal that satisfies on every level and costs half as much as the competition. Out of this world.
