Browns

If you like the chain bistro experience - the triumph of profit ratio over flair - then you might as well go to Browns cos they do it better than anyone else. Excellent for a quick meal when you can't be bothered to cook.

Casa Don Carlos

Some people love it, others rate other Tapas vendors higher. I haven't been for a while but my memories of Casa are all positive - qualtiy tapas, lively atmosphere, good fun, small tables, cheap wine, tortilla is OK, patatas bravas better.

2003 update - Still as good, if not better.

Pinocchio

Basic Pizza-Pasta place but definitely better than the rest of it's kind,and that includes the previously superior Donatello and Al Duomo. Paprika whitebait is a favourite starter and all the Pizzas are large, crispy, hot, cheesey - what more do you want.
